Art

In my free time, I enjoy dabbling in the world of art. Here are a few illustrations that I had fun with.

I mainly draw portraits because I find the face rather interesting. One small change and you can be illustrating an entirely different character.
My art journey has allowed me to gain confidence in my ability to draw what I want. In the past, I was unable to put on paper what I imagined in my head. I was rather shy and ashamed of my art; I disliked showing others my sketches let alone finished products. So, I had taken a two-year break to let my self-confidence resurface.
Now that I have found my love for art again, I decided to start from scratch and rebuild my self-confidence in the world of art.
This is a fanart of one of the many interesting character designs that the Fate anime series has to offer. As this was this was the start of my new art journey, I heavily referenced. The more I look at this, the more I recognize which skills I need to practice more.

During Thanksgiving break, I was watching one of my favorite music video editors, and got inspired to try a glow effect. I only had traditional art supplies, so it was a fun experiment.

This was my second attempt at a phone drawing. I had never drawn from this angle before in neither traditional or digital art. It was fun, and I explored with different textures as well. This was also when I had officially found my fondness of rectangular brushes.
This was one of the first times I tried digital art years ago, so I spent many hours just playing around with concepts. I had explored with different brushes and textures, but I never actually finished this. I just continued to get better acquainted with Clip Studio Paint.

During quarantine, I spent a lot of time going back to the basics to improve my sense of anatomy. Going through my sketchbook, there are a lot of sketches like this focused on the face and head alone.

This was one of my concept sketches to build a character for a friend of mine. Color sketches like this allow me to commit to the lines that I am placing on the paper because I cannot erase them as easily. I was also able to find a style that I liked. Granted, I do not have a particular style, this is the one that I am confident in the most. I like this version of simple semi-realism. I will continue to improve with practice and gain more confidence to reveal my art to others.
